MetroLALSA will host Pa’lante VI: Alzando Nuestra Voz at Fordham University School of Law on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The conference will provide panel sessions that benefit a wide range of attendees including pre-law students, law students, and lawyers for CLE credits. MetroLALSA’s ongoing mission is to empower and unify the Latina/o legal community. The Pa’lante Conference is the central forum to achieving those goals.
MetroLALSA is honored to have Elizabeth de Leon Bhargava, Deputy Secretary of Labor for the Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, be our keynote speaker for Pa'lante VI. From her commitment to serve the public, especially as she has leds in her prominent position as Deputy Secretary of Labor, Ms. de Leon has – and continues to – inspire many Latina/os. She has demonstrated that there are endless possibilities for Latina/os who aspire for something more, so long as we remain focused and true to our goals. By having Ms. de Leon share her collective experiences, personal and professional, at Pa’lante VI would bestow the attendees with invaluable insights about success and drive. Imparting your words, as a leader in the Latina/o community and in the overall legal profession, is especially important to rising law students during a time where the identity of a Latina/o is being influenced in a politically divisive manner. This year, our keynote speaker will be Elizabeth de Leon We are also honored with many influential and key individuals for the panel discussions. For legal professionals, you may earn up to 4 CLE credits during this one-day event. (We are working to increase the number of credits you may earn at this conference.) Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
For all attendees, you will have opportunities to network, especially during the Organization Fair. Our pipeline program will be integrated with the conference, giving students and professionals interested in pursuing law school an opportunity to speak with law students, legal professionals, law school admission officiers, and, most importantly, an opportunity to participate in a mock-1L class.
The conference is a platform that enables MetroLALSA to expand its network and enrich relationships with legal professionals and associations that serve the Latina/o community. We believe that as we continue to host the Pa'lante conference, Latina/o issues will be brought to the forefront for important discussions and continue to bring prepared Latina/o leaders to proudly represent their communities.
